Toronto: The Indian consulate in Toronto is urging the Indian diaspora in Canada to register at the portal launched by the Indian External Affairs ministry last December for connecting Indians scattered across the globe.

The CGI, Toronto in a release said: "The Global Pravasi Rishta portal has been launched by the Indian government on Dec 29, 2020 with an intention to establish a 3-way communication between the Ministry of External Affairs, Indian missions and the 30 million Indian diasporas scattered across the world."

"With the Indian government recognizing the importance of the Indian diaspora and engaging with them – 'not just ceremonially, but at every step' – in different ways, the Global Pravasi Rishta Portal would not only provide latest information on the existing and new government schemes launched for the benefit of the diaspora but will also involve taking the opinion of the Indian diaspora on policy issues, communicate on real time basis, share emergency alerts, reach Consular office in emergency situation, sharing e-newsletters, conducting surveys, presentation of technical innovations, etc.," the CGI Toronto said.

"To make this program a success, CGI, Toronto requests you to register at the portal and also promote and encourage the same amongst our community members through your media house/ publication. The link to the portal for ready reference is https://pravasirishta.gov.in/home," it said.
