India responds to White House's call for Nobel Peace Prize for Trump

India on Friday said the White House should be asked if President Donald Trump should be given the Nobel Prize for stopping conflicts.

"As far as the statements of the White House are concerned, please take your question to them," MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said during a press conference as quoted by the media.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Trump deserved to win the Nobel Prize since he had ended several conflicts around the world including the one between India and Pakistan.

Levitt was quoted as saying by the media during the press conference: "Now ended conflicts between Thailand and Cambodia, Israel and Iran, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, India and Pakistan, Serbia and Kosovo and Egypt and Ethiopia.”

"It's well past time that President Trump was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize,” she was quoted as saying.

No phone call between Modi and Trump during military action: Jaishankar

Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Wednesday addressed the Rajya Sabha on Operation Sindoor and once again said US President Donald Trump had played no role in India’s military operation against Pakistan in May.

He said no telephone conversation occurred between Indian PM Narendra Modi and Trump to halt the action.

“There was no telephonic conversation between the two leaders from April 22 to June 16," Jaishankar was quoted as saying in the Upper House of the Parliament.

Meanwhile, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday launched another attack on Narendra Modi over US President Donald Trump's "ceasefire" claims, even after the Prime Minister claimed no global leader asked India to stop Operation Sindoor.

Speaking to the reporters, Rahul said Modi couldn't take Trump's name as that would, as the Congress leader claims, will prompt the US President to "reveal the truth".
