Chandigarh/UNI: On the call of Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) on Thursday, hundreds of farmers gathered at Delhi Ramlila Maidan holding a "Kisan Mazdoor Mahapanchayat".

The government had given permission to 5,000 farmers to hold the Mahapanchayat, imposing a condition of no tractor trolleys and no march at the Ramlila Maidan.

SKM spokesperson said the farmers have been demanding legislation ensuring a legal status for MSP for their crops.

Additionally, they demand implementation of the Swaminathan Commission's recommendations for MSP, pensions for farmers and agricultural workers, and the waiver of farm debts.
