Four died, three hospitalised after consuming poisonous liquor in Punjab

Four people died and three others were hospitalised after consuming poisonous liquor in Punjab's Sangrur district, police said on Wednesday.

The incident happened in Gujran Dirba village on Tuesday night.

Police said two persons named in the FIR are Manpreet Singh alias Mani and Sukhwinder Singh alias Sukha.

They have been arrested under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Police said the deceased were identified as Bhola Singh (50), Jagjit Singh (30) Nirmal Singh and Pargat Singh (twins, 42).

All three hospitalised persons are out of danger.

A Special investigation team (SIT) has been formed to investigate the matter and file the report in 72 hours.

The accused Manpreet alias Mani was already booked in a case of illicit liquor selling in January but released on bail some time ago.
