Five migrants killed, 15 injured as truck overturns in Madhya Pradesh
Narsinghpur (Madhya Pradesh)/IBNS: At least five migrant labourers died and 15 others were injured in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday night when a truck in which they were travelling overturned, media reports said.
The truck, carrying mangoes, overturned in a village, which is about 200 km away from state capital Bhopal.
The group of 20 migrant labourers started the journey from Hyderabad and were on way to Madhya Pradesh's Jhansi city.
The injured were taken to nearby hospitals.
All of them were tested for coronavirus after one labourer showed symptoms for the same.
The incident comes two days after 16 migrants belonging to a group of 20 were run over by a cargo train while they were asleep on the railway tracks in Maharashtra.
According to reports, they were walking from Jalna in Maharashtra to Bhusaval in Madhya Pradesh, the distance being 157 km apart.
The three-phase lockdown owing to the pandemic spread in India has created a massive humanitarian crisis leaving thousands of migrants jobless and shelterless forcing them to walk several distances to reach their hometown.
Despite arrangements of buses and special trains by centre and states to help them reach home, many had set out on foot to reach their destinations.
