EAM S Jaishanakr describes late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, FM Hossein Amir-Abdollahian as 'friends' who contributed immensely to growth of India-Iran relationship

Remembering late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and foreign minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said they will be remembered as friends of India who contributed immensely to the growth of the India-Iran relationship.

" Visited the Embassy of Iran in Delhi today to convey our deepest condolences on the tragic passing away of President Ebrahim Raisi and my colleague, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian," Jaishankar posted on X.

"They will always be remembered as friends of India who contributed immensely to the growth of the India-Iran relationship," he said.

"Government of India stands in solidarity with the people of Iran at this very difficult time," he said.

Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian have died after the helicopter in which they were travelling crashed in a dense forest area in East Azerbaijan on Sunday.
