Cyclone Nisarga to cross North Maharashtra, South Gujarat coasts on Jun 3; Met issues red alert
New Delhi/IBNS: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that cyclone Nisarga will cross North Maharastra and South Gujarat coasts late in the evening on June 3, said reports.
The IMD said the low pressure area over the Arabian Sea has intensified into a deep depression on Monday morning and it will further intensify into a cyclonic storm.
On Sunday, the weatherman issued a red-colour coded warning to coastal Maharashtra and Gujarat, after which the fishermen who had gone fishing to Arabian Sea along the north and south Gujarat coasts were asked to return.
The IMD has four colour-coded warnings as per the intensity of any weather system -- green, yellow, orange and red.
"The low pressure Area over Arabian Sea to intensify into Cyclonic Storm during next 48-hours. It would reach near north Maharashtra and south Gujarat coasts around 3rd June morning," the IMD tweeted on Sunday.

The warning of a cyclonic storm in Maharashtra and Gujarat comes days after Cyclone Amphan ripped half-a-dozen districts of West Bengal, destroying properties worth hundreds of crores and killing at least 98 people.
