COVID-19: With 1270 works getting nod, developmental activities start in J&K's Kupwara

Kupwara: The district administration in Kupwara has given permission for execution of 1270 different developmental works in the district to set the economic ball rolling in Jammu and Kashmir which has been hit by COVID-19.

These works include 94 road and bridge schemes, 24 works of disilting of khuls, construction of 7 borewells, 6 filtration plants, 14 substations, HT/LT, 63 school buildings/boundary walls, 5 hutment/toilets, 1034 footpaths/link roads/Protection Bunds, upgradation of 3 vegetable markets and two 33KVA lines besides, service of 3 water supply schemes and other miscellaneous works, The Real Kashmir News reported.

In order to execute these 1270 works smoothly within the stipulated time frame, as many as 7960 laborers are required, besides, 342 engineering/ supervisory staff, reported the news portal.

According to Deputy Commissioner Kupwara issued statement, construction work has been started on 884 developmental projects during the last month with strict application of standard operation procedures (SOPs) as laid down by the government to contain the spread of COVID-19.

All the works have started in the region by maintaining social distancing and other such measures needed to be followed to avoid COVID-19 spread.
