The Indian Embassy in Kyrgyzstan is working with universities in the country to arrange for the transportation of students to nearby airports or to address their concerns.

The embassy shared the update days after violence erupted in the country between foreign students and locals.

The embassy, however, said the situation in  Bishkek currently remains calm.

"Situation in Bishkek continues to remain calm. However, upon request of Indian medical students, the Embassy is working with Medical Universities in the Kyrgyz Republic to arrange for their transport to the nearest international airport to address their concerns," the Indian Embassy in Kyrgyzstan posted on X.

"Students should contact their respective Medical Universities in this regard," the post said.

According to reports, international students were injured after attackers targeted their hostel rooms.

At the moment, about 17,000 Indian students are in the Kyrgyz Republic spread across many cities but most of them are in Bishkek, the embassy said.
