Nawab Malik has close links with Mumbai blast convicts, underworld: Fadnavis

Mumbai/IBNS: Former Maharashtra chief minister and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday made an explosive claim that state minister and senior NCP leader Nawab Malik has close links with 1993 Mumbai serial blast convicts and the underworld.

"Nawab Malik has dealings with people from the underworld, people convicted in the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts case. He purchased land from convicts of the case on rates cheaper than market rates. Was this deal to save prime land from being forfeited under TADA law?" Fadnavis said while addressing a press conference in Mumbai, reported ANI.

"In Kurla a 2.80-acre plot is called Goawala compound on LBS Road. This plot has a registry with Solidus Investments Private Limited. This company is related to Nawab Malik's family. He was also in the company but he resigned after he became a minister. This plot was bought from underworld people for Rs 30 lakh. Only Rs 20 lakh were paid," Fadnavis alleged.

"My question is when this deal happened you were a minister. Did you not know who Salim Patel is? Why did you buy land from convicts? And why did they sell a three-acre plot on LBS road for Rs 30 lakh," he asked.

Nawab Malik's son purchased a land from a Mumbai blast accused on LBS Road in 2005.

Fadnavis said he has more details and he would submit them to the relevant authorities and NCP chief Sharad Pawar.

Earlier, Malik had posted a picture of Fadnavis's wife Amruta Fadnavis with alleged drug peddler Jaydeep Rana, who is currently lodged in jail.

The picture was apparently taken during the recording of Amruta Fadnavis' river anthem project in 2018. Nawab Malik claimed that Rana was the finance head of the project.

Hitting back at Malik, Fadnavis said that Rana had clicked pictures with everyone, including himself and his wife.

The former Maharashtra chief minister had said in an earlier press briefing that he would soon expose Nawab Malik's links with the underworld.

Nawab Malik also hurled accusations against NCB Zonal director Sameer Wankhede after Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan was arrested following a raid on an alleged rave party on a cruise, off the coast of Mumbai in October.

Malik had claimed the NCB officer was the kingpin of the drugs racket running in Mumbai and was appointed by former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. He also accused that Wankhede produce illegal documents to get caste-based benefits.

Earlier, Nawab Malik's son-in-law Sameer Khan was also arrested by NCB in a separate case and is currently out on bail.
