PM Modi holds meeting with CMs over Covid-19 situation; Mamata, Yogi, Baghel skip

New Delhi/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday held a meeting with the Chief Ministers of various states and union territories over the rise in Covid-19 cases.

The Chief Ministers of West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, Mamata Banerjee, Yogi Adityanath and Bhupesh Baghel respectively, have skipped the meeting.

Among the three, Mamata and Yogi are presently busy in poll campaigns in West Bengal.

In the meeting, Modi stressed on the need to maintain the guard against Covid-19. He has instructed the local administrations to create micro containment zones. 

India witnessed the highest daily spike of Covid-19 cases in recent times as the country recorded 28,903 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, as per Ministry of Health released data on Wednesday.

During the same period, 188 deaths have been recorded.

The total death toll due to the disease now stands at 1,59,044.

There are 2,34,406 active cases in the country at present.

So far,  1,10,45,284 people have recovered from the disease.
