BJP's Suvendu Adhikari to file nomination from Bengal Poll epicentre Nandigram today

Haldia/IBNS: Holding a roadshow, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Suvendu Adhikari will Friday file his nomination from the Nandigram constituency, which has turned out to be the epicentre of the West Bengal elections 2021.

Adhikari, who is pitted against his former chief and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee, will be accompanied by central leaders Smriti Irani, Dharmendra Pradhan and Babul Supriyo to file the nomination in Haldia.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee filed her nomination Mar 10.

In a new twist to the Nandigram battle, Banerjee got herself injured on the same day as she alleged to have been pushed by four-five men while she was greeting her supporters from the car.

Banerjee, who is admitted to SSKM Hospital in Kolkata, got her ankle injured and later her left foot was plastered.

The incident, which had political ramifications with the ruling party accusing the BJP of conspiring against Banerjee, snowballed entire Thursday with claims and counter-claims.

However in her video message Thursday, Banerjee refrained from accusing anyone but appealing to people to maintain calm.

Adhikari, who is fighting a prestige battle, has not commented yet on the entire episode.
