Jammu/UNI: The Pakistani troops on Friday night violated the truce agreement by shelling the forward areas of Line of Control with mortars in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Defence spokesman here said that at around 8 PM, Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with small arms and shelling with mortars along the LoC in Degwar sector of District Poonch.

"Indian Army retaliated befittingly to the firing,” he added.

Earlier on Jan 18, Pakistan violated the ceasefire twice by firing unprovoked along the Line of Control in Poonch and Rajouri districts.

“No injury or any major damage has been reported on own side so far,” he said.
