Cauvery water dispute: Centre to hold meeting with Karnataka and Tamil Nadu CMs

Bengaluru/New Delhi, Sep 28 (IBNS): Union Water Resources minister Uma Bharati will chair a tripartite meet on the Cauvery water dispute on Thursday, according to media reports.

On Tuesday, the apex court pulled up Karnataka for delaying the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu despite the court's orders and asked the Centre to hold a meeting with the chief ministers of both states.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will attend the meeting while Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaaa who is in hospital now will be represented by a delegate who will convey her views..

Union ministers Arun Jaitley and Ravi Shankar Prasad are also expected to be present at the meeting.

On Wednesday, the Karnataka CM held an all party meet regarding the state's stand on the water sharing issue.
