After a heated-up campaign for weeks, Delhi, the national capital of the country, is voting to elect its new government. While Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is seeking a third term, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which had fielded a battery of saffron leaders to campaign along with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is trying to unseat the ruling party. Amid the fight between the AAP and BJP, Congress is trying to stay relevant in Delhi which was once a stronghold of the grand old party. The results will be declared on Feb 11.

Meenakshi Lekhi casts her vote

BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi cast her vote. She tweeted, "Please go out and fulfill your duty in the festival of democracy. Vote for BJP, vote for vikas."

 

Voter turnout till 2 pm is 27.92%

Delhi shows low voter turnout even till 2 pm. The voter turnout in Delhi is recorded at 27.92% till 2 pm.

Gautam Gambhir casts his vote

Former cricketer and BJP MP Gautam Gambhir cast his vote along with his family. 

 

Hope people will vote for development and won't be distracted: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra

"I hope the people of Delhi will vote for development and progress and won't be distracted by issues that don't pertain to their development," said Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

 

After a slow start, voting in Delhi is gradually picking up with 15.57% voter turnout recorded at 12 noon for the 70-member Delhi assembly.

Rahul, Sonia, Priyanka, Manmohan cast votes

Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi, party's general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, leader Rahul Gandhi and former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on Saturday exercised their franchise for the 2020 Delhi Assembly polls. Sonia Gandhi has cast her vote at Nirman Bhawan in New Delhi assembly constituency. She was accompanied by Priyanka Gandhi Vadra who has cast her vote at booth no 114 and 116 at Lodhi Estate. Rahul Gandhi cast his vote at polling booth number 81 and 82 at Aurangzeb Road. Former PM Dr Manmohan Singh and his wife Gursharan Singh have cast their vote at Nirman Bhawan.

 

 

Bollywood actor Taapsee Pannu on Saturday cast her vote for the Delhi Assembly elections 2020 along with her family, and said that every vote counts.

 An estimated voter turnout of 6.43 per cent was recorded till 1100 hrs in Delhi Assembly elections on Saturday as balloting continued.
