Kolkata, Oct 13 (IBNS) After its hugely successful opening in Delhi, Teamwork Arts brings Going Solo, India’s only International Theatre festival to Kolkata, which will bring an entire new experience of solo acts by world renowned solo theatre artists.

Solo Theatre illustrates the ability of a single artist to captivate as well as hold an audience riveted and has been one of the great performing traditions.

Going solo with its thought provoking productions, brilliant scripts and evocative themes will captivate audience and create an enriching experience for theatre lovers in Kolkata.

The festival starts its Kolkata leg from Monday and will be followed by over 2 weeks in October in Bengaluru and Mumbai.

Commenting on the Second edition of Going Solo, Sanjoy Roy, Managing Director Teamwork Arts and Festival Director, said,“This year’s primary theme explores the challenges of human nature and our spirit of survival. Exploring the pain, the joy the highs and lows of being marginalized or discriminated against, the plays are a celebration of the human spirit.”

Speaking on the occasion Rob Lynes, Director British Council India, said, “British Council is delighted to partner with Teamwork Arts to bring to India three superlative solo performances from the popular Edinburgh Fringe Festival. As we commemorate Shakespeare’s 400th death anniversary in 2016, Shylock demonstrates the universal popularity and relevance of the Bard’s work over time.  Highlighting the UK’s leading role in Arts and Disability, we are pleased to collaborate on presenting If These Spasms Could Speak and Don’t Wake Me in India. These works will doubtless open up dialogue on the transformative power of the Arts in society. We wish the second edition of Going Solo all success.”
