Slum kids were first guests at Jalandhar’s new Subway restaurant

New Delhi, June 26 (IBNS) Subway India franchisee Karan Veer Singh inaugurated his new Subway restaurant in Jalandhar by inviting 20 underprivileged children as his first guests. He opened the restaurant at BMC Chowk in Jalandhar, last week.

A release by the US sandwich and salad restaurant chain's franchisee said the gesture was in line with Subway’s commitment to underprivileged children.

Around the world, Subway restaurants celebrate the World Sandwich Day every year in the month of November by partnering with leading charity organizations. In India, Subway has partnered with Kailash Satyarthi Children's Foundation (KSCF), a country-wide organisation, dedicated to the welfare of children and headed by the Nobel Peace Laureate.

On the day of the inauguration, Karan Veer Singh went to the Jalandhar slum colonies and invited the kids there to travel with him to the new restaurant for inauguration. The children were delighted to move about in luxury cars and visit a brand new restaurant for inauguration at a prominent location.

“If we care to look around, we would find many children loitering around high-end restaurants where they cannot afford to enjoy a meal. I am glad, I am sharing my joy with these lovely children rather than inviting a celebrity for the inauguration,” said Karan Veer Singh.

Chetan Arora, Subway Development Agent for Punjab, said “Karanveer’s beautiful restaurant will set a benchmark in the city of Jalandhar. Karan has always been a great franchisee who has taken fresh initiatives in the business. It’s a pleasure to know him and get inspired by his gesture of opening the restaurant the way he did! We look forward to Karan’s success and growth in the business and to learn from his humility.”
