‘Makeup is not about concealing’: Rukmini Maitra reveals her beauty mantra ahead of Durga Puja

Kolkata/IBNS: Bengali actor Rukmini Maitra attended a special beauty event at South City Mall last week, where she spoke about her preference for minimal makeup, skincare and her plans for the upcoming Durga Puja.

Speaking about her approach to makeup, Rukmini said that she grew up watching her mother and sister opt for minimal makeup, which influenced her own preferences.

The actor said she likes makeup that feels light and allows the skin to breathe, adding that maintaining a good skincare base makes it easier to achieve a natural look.

Rukmini Maitra said, "I personally believe that if your base skin is fine, then everything else that we do will be much easier. So, I try to take care of my skin. If there is a quick shoot or a quick meeting, for that I have a few handy products. I announced on social media that I am coming to Kolkata for Puja shopping and makeup is an important part of it."

Rukmini also shared how she keeps a few products handy when she has to quickly move between shoots, meetings and other commitments.

She highlighted a matte lipstick as one of her favourites and said she sometimes uses the same product on her cheeks for a quick blush.

She added that the makeup products she uses during shoots are chosen with skin-friendliness in mind, while noting her association with Lotus Makeup.

Rukmini also spoke about women, their ability to balance multiple responsibilities and the significance of Goddess Durga during the festive season. She acknowledged the support she receives in managing her professional commitments, while noting that many women handle similar responsibilities without the same level of support.

On her fashion style during Durga Puja, Rukmini said, "As far as I can go back in time, I think the memory of me wearing a saree, that my mother buys, on the eighth day of Durga Puja, is irreplaceable. Whatever happens, the iconic red and white Bengali traditional saree is my Puja fashion at all times."

She further said that makeup, for her, is not about concealing one's appearance but enhancing natural features.

According to her,  the growing preference for natural, minimal and "glass skin" looks reflects a shift towards makeup that enhances rather than masks one's beauty.
