New Delhi World Book Fair to focus on women's writing down the years

New Delhi, Jan 7 (IBNS): The theme 'Manushi' chosen for the New Delhi World Book Fair is very crucial in present times to understand women perspective, said Union HRD Minister Mahendra Nath Pandey while inaugurating the nine-day fair starting on Saturday.

Dr Pratibha Ray, noted Odia author and Jnanpith awardee was the guest of honor and Tomasz Kozlowski, Ambassador of the Delegation of the European Union to India was the special guest on the occasion.

Nearly 800 publishers from India and abroad are participating in the New Delhi World Book Fair (NDWBF) being held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

The Fair is organized by National Book Trust, India, an autonomous organization under the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development and India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), under the Union Ministry of Commerce.

In an earlier Press Conference, Baldeo Bhai Sharma, Chairman, NBT, said that this year ‘Manushi’ is the theme of the Fair. It will focus on writings on and by women, and will exhibit the rich tradition of women writings from ancient times till the present.

The theme pavilion is scheduled to be inaugurated He added that Shri Prakash Javadekar, Union Minister of Human Resource Development would inaugurate the Theme Pavilion on Tuesday.
