Nairobi/IBNS: Nairobi resident with Kolkata connections, Ananya Pal, will be presenting ‘Music & Beyond’, at the Kenyan capital on June 10 this year as her contribution towards World Music Day (observed globally on June 21).

Pal, an author and cultural activist, runs her own production company.

The highlight of the programme will be a medley of famous musical compositions created by Satyajit Ray, Salil Chaudhury, R.D. Barman, A. R. Rahman and Harry Belafonte.

According to Pal, the programme will showcase how Indian music has a global appeal.

“An apt time to showcase the power of music,” she said.

Other programmes will include a Hindi Bhajan sung with African music arrangement while Indian and African dancers will present Shiv Tandav Stotra, each group performing in their own styles; a dance drama based on the love saga of Radha and Krishna; a fusion of Kathak and Bharatnatyam dances set to a Bollywood song.
