He had an ₹85 lakh package. Then he quit to travel: ‘I chose time over money’

Now, tech professional Saksham Raj Seth has taken that decision a step further, quitting a job that paid him an annual package of Rs 85 lakh to pursue travel content creation full-time.

While Seth decided to leave his high-paying job, his wife continued working as a software professional and earns around Rs 1.5 lakh per month.

Sharing his decision on Instagram, Seth wrote: "At 28, I walked away from a ₹85 lakh/year job without another one lined up."

"Not because I hated my job. Not because I had a better offer," he said.

"I just realised I had spent years building a career, while constantly waiting for the time to actually enjoy the life I was building it for," Seth added.

"And at some point, I had to ask myself: what's the point of having the money if I don't have the time?" he said.

Explaining his decision, Seth wrote: "So I decided to take the risk."

"I don't know if this will turn out to be the smartest decision I've made or the stupidest one. But at least I'll know I tried. Episode 1 of our 14-day digital nomad experiment," he added.

His post quickly drew reactions from Instagram users, with several people sharing their own experiences of leaving high-paying jobs in pursuit of greater freedom and happiness.

One user wrote that they had also quit a high-paying MNC job and had "never been happier & healthier" since making the decision.

"Chose time freedom over financial freedom 😅 and now figuring out how to get financial freedom without compromising on time freedom," the user wrote.

Another Instagram user congratulated Seth on his decision, writing: "Sometimes you gotta do what feels right to YOU. All the best with this new chapter of life."

A third user shared that they had quit their job two years ago and even travelled to Goa on the day they resigned.

"It's the best gift I could give myself! But the journey is filled with learnings and growth," the user wrote, wishing Seth "less fears and more confidence and happiness" on his new journey.
