City cyclists pedals miles to ensure healthy smiles

Kolkata, Dec 10 (IBNS) : For two consecutive Sundays this winter, Kolkata has woken up to a healthy start.
Morning walkers at the Parama Island and the Rabindra Sarovar Lake recently were in for a surprise when a group of more than thirty enthusiastic cyclists, all clad in bright yellow tee-shirts and geared up with cyclists’ helmets, joined them in the wee hours of the morning to show their support to the “Get Healthy, Give Healthy” campaign organised by CRY – Child Rights and You.

A group of cycling enthusiasts that call themselves Discover on Wheels have pledged to dedicate two months of cycling to this campaign which aims to ensure a healthy start to 2,81,045 children in CRY supported project areas.

As a part of their campaign, they have been touring the city, and one of them has already pedalled 300 kilometres on wheels, all the way from Kolkata to Kanthi; where he visited some villages in the operational area of Kajla Janakalyan Samiti, a grass root level NGO supported by CRY and spent a day with the local children.

Eminent Bengali actors Saayoni Ghosh, Koneenica Bannerjee and Ritabhari Chakraborty extended their support to the campaign and were present to encourage the cyclists.
