New Delhi, June 13 (IBNS) Union Minister of State for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences Y S Chowdary has urged directors of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) to come up with at least 12 cutting edge technologies which are to be commercialized every year.

Addressing a two day Director’s Conference of CSIR, being held at CSIR-IIP, Dehradun on the second day today, he said 10 to 15 spin off startup companies should emerge every year from industrialization of CSIR research projects.

The minister said as of now there is a perception that our scientific research is not being guided by national priorities.

Chowdary called upon all CSIR labs to map their resources, list out bottlenecks and anomalies to bring about a positive change and come up with a vision document for a guided action now.

The Union Minister for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences Harsh Vardhan chairing the two- day conference had been hearing all presentations from various CSIR Institutes.

He said a brainstorming session towards the end of the conference would identify various projects to be taken up by CSI Institutes for the welfare of poor and for a bright future of India as envisaged by the Prime Minister.
