West Bengal minister Amit Mitra attends interactive session on Gas Industry

Kolkata, Jan 12 (IBNS): West Bengal finance and industry minister Amit Mitra this week attended an interactive session on Gas Industry which was organised by FICCI West Bengal State Council here.

The session was organized to discuss and explore strategies and newer technologies for gas production or exploration, developing infrastructure and market for gas. 

Mitra, Minister-in-Charge, Finance, Industry, Commerce & Enterprises, MSME & Textiles, IT & Electronics Departments, Govt. of West Bengal  the Chief Guest, said that natural gas is a focus area of the state government and there is huge Business Potential for Industrial, Commercial, Transport and Domestic sectors. Gas industry can provide huge employment in the producer sector, consumer sector and infrastructure sector.

Speaking about the Gas industry, Mitra said: "This sector can cause employment.....This is the focus area......We have to take percentage of natural gas consumption from seven to higher levels."

"Production sector is important which will bring consumer sector which in turn will bring investment," the minister also said in his brief address.

The session brought together policy makers, experts from Gas Industry, Chambers & Associations, senior representatives from the end user segments namely Iron and Steel, Foundry and Forging, Power, Plastics, Chemicals, Ceramics, Manufacturing, and others.
