New Jersey /Kolkata, Jan 20 (IBNS): Tata Communications, a provider of A New World of Communications, and Seaborn Networks, the developer and operator of the first express submarine cable between the United States and Sao Paulo, Brazil, announced Tata Communications' investment for purchase of significant capacity in Seaborn Networks' cable system between Brazil and US.
Genius Wong, Senior Vice President, Global Network Services, Tata Communications said, "Latin America is a key emerging region and growing market on the world stage and our investment  in Seabras-1 is part of our plan to enhance our offerings into that region. With the Seabras-1 cable landing in Tata Communications’ Wall cable landing station in the US, this will also enable seamless extension of our TGN-network”

Tata Communications owns and operates the world’s largest and most advanced subsea fibre cable network. Today, over 24% of the world’s Internet routes travel over Tata Communications’ network, and the company is the only Tier-1 provider that is in the top five by routes in five continents.

Larry Schwartz, Chief Executive Office, Seaborn Networks said, "With bandwidth and connectivity growth demand in Latin America at unprecedented levels, we are delighted to have Tata Communications as a strategic partner on Seabras-1. Tata Communications' investment for significant capacity purchase in Seabras-1 is a clear indication of high demand in the market for an express submarine cable route between the US and São Paulo and seamless extension to other geographies in the world."

Seaborn Networks plans for the Seabras-1 system to be ready for service in the fourth quarter of 2016.
