Citibank N.A. India on Friday announced that its institutional asset book has crossed the landmark ₹1,00,000 crore milestone.

Citibank N.A. India on Friday announced that its institutional asset book has crossed the landmark ₹1,00,000 crore milestone.

Citibank N.A. India has reached this scale entirely through its institutional businesses, without a consumer banking business in India.

Over the past 12 months, Citibank N.A. India’s asset book grew by ~₹24,000 crore – an increase of over 30%, significantly ahead of the broader banking system. The growth reflects robust client activity, increased capital investment, expanding trade flows and sustained financing demand across key sectors of the economy.

Jeegar Shah, Chief Financial Officer, Citi India, said, “This milestone reflects the scale of the institutional opportunity in India, the strength of the platform we have built to serve it, and the focused investments Citi has made to grow the institutional banking business. As India’s growth story continues to unfold, we are seeing businesses invest and expand their supply chains and increase their participation in global markets, creating increasingly sophisticated requirements across financing, liquidity and risk management. Citi is proud to partner in this journey, uniquely positioned to bring these capabilities together through our local expertise and global network.”

Citibank N.A. India’s client asset book is diversified across industries, client segments and financing products, serving leading Indian corporates, multinational companies, financial institutions and commercial banking clients. The portfolio spans across loans for working capital, trade finance, supply chain finance and structured financing solutions including investments in PTC (Pass Through Certificates) and Corporate Bonds related products.

Roshni Shroff, Country Treasurer, Citi India said, “Crossing the ₹1 lakh crore mark reflects not only strong client demand but also the depth and resilience of Citi India's balance sheet. Over the past several years, we have deployed capital strategically in support of our clients' growth, while always balancing it with discipline in liquidity and risk management. This milestone underscores the strength of Citi's institutional franchise and our readiness to power India's next phase of investment, trade and economic growth.”
