Cellecor Gadgets Limited, a major consumer electronics brands, has become the first Indian consumer electronics brand to move towards manufacturing in Africa.

The Company's overseas step-down subsidiary has signed Preliminary Heads of Terms and is progressing plans with the Liberia Special Economic Zone Development Company (LSEZDC) for a proposed manufacturing and assembly facility in the Buchanan Special Economic Zone, Grand Bassa County, Liberia.

The Liberia Special Economic Zones Authority (LSEZA), a statutory authority of the Government of Liberia, signed the document as witness and acknowledged its support in principle for the proposed project.

The proposed project marks a new chapter in Cellecor's evolution. Having built a diversified consumer technology portfolio spanning Smart TVs, Washing Machines, Party Speakers, Air Conditioners, Fans and Coolers, Smartphones, Feature Phones, Small Kitchen Appliances (Mixer Grinders, Blenders, Electric Kettles, Rice Cookers and Induction Cookers), Small Domestic Appliances (Irons, Heaters, Geysers, Personal Care Products, Pedestal Fans and Ceiling Fans), and Tablets, the company is now evaluating the next step in its value chain: developing manufacturing and assembly capabilities and extending its platform beyond India. Cellecor's business has been built around a straightforward consumer proposition of combining innovation, functionality and affordability across a wide range of price points, and the Liberia initiative is intended to extend that proposition into manufacturing, localisation, regional distribution and market expansion from an African base.

The facility is presently envisaged across approximately 15 acres within the Buchanan Special Economic Zone and is intended to support manufacturing and assembly, testing and quality control, packaging, warehousing and logistics, the export of finished and semi-finished products, and training and skills development.

The move comes as Africa enters a new phase of digital and technology-led growth. Mobile technologies and services contributed approximately USD 240 billion to Africa's economy in 2025, equivalent to 7.8% of the continent's GDP, a figure GSMA projects will rise to approximately USD 290 billion by 2030. Affordability remains a significant barrier to wider digital adoption across the continent, creating room for accessible, value-led consumer technology, the space in which Cellecor has built its India business.

Liberia's position on the Atlantic coast gives Cellecor a potential gateway to the wider West African region, home to more than 400 million people across 15 countries. LSEZA has identified electronics assembly and manufacturing as a specific opportunity for the country, and local production of this kind is expected to shorten supply chains, reduce logistics costs and create employment across the region.

Commenting on the development, Ravi Agarwal, Founder and Managing Director, Cellecor Gadgets Limited, said: “Cellecor was built on the belief that technology should be accessible, relevant and affordable. Our proposed entry into Africa takes that philosophy into a new geography and, importantly, into a new part of the value chain. We are not looking at Liberia simply as a market; we are exploring the opportunity to build a manufacturing and regional platform from which Cellecor can participate in Africa's long-term consumer technology growth.”
