Sensex up by over 100 pts

Mumbai/UNI: The BSE sensex on Friday advanced 180 pts to open at 71,045.65 as renewed buying was seen in Commodities, Consumer Discretionary Goods and Services stocks.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 40 pts at 21,295.85.

The Sensex registered intra-day high and low at 71,045.65 and 70,758.04 pts respectively.

The Nifty recorded intra-day high and low at 21,332.90 and 21,248.55 pts respectively.

The Mid Cap moved up 0.52 and Small Cap rose by 0.98 pc.

In 30 scrips, 17 advanced while 13 declined.

The gainers were Tata Steel by 1.91 pc to Rs 133.50, Tata Motors by 1.80 pc to Rs 721.50, NTPC by 1.01 pc to Rs 304.95 and Sun Pharma by 0.63 pc to Rs 1240.20.

The losers were Infosys by 0.70 pc to Rs 1525.45, HDFC Bank by 0.63 pc to Rs 1675.85, TCS by 0.38 pc to Rs 3774.90 and ICICI Bank by 0.35 pc to Rs 1000.10.
