Sensex opens historic high at 70,020.68 points

Mumbai/UNI: The BSE Sensex on Tuesday opened a historic high, breaching the 70K level at 70,020.68 as buying was witnessed in utilities, Asian paints, and Bankex stocks.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) gained 39.20 points to 21,036.30.

The Sensex registered intraday highs and lows at 70,033.64 and 69,934.23 points, respectively.

The Nifty registered intraday highs and lows at 21,037.90 and 21,001.85 points, respectively.

The Mid Cap gained 0.37 pc and the Small Cap gained 0.53 pc.

The gainers were ITC by 0.98 pc to Rs 456.75, Tata Steel by 0.85 pc to Rs 131.15, Asian Paints by 0.60 pc to Rs 3252.50, Nestle India Ltd by 0.54 pc to Rs 25151, and JSW Steel by 0.54 pc to Rs 849.50.

The losers were Bharti Airtel by 0.83 pc to Rs 992.35, L & T by 0.83 pc to Rs 3356.50, Infosys by 0.51 pc to Rs 1481, and Titan by 0.28 pc to Rs 3620.75.
