ODWEN solves the last-mile delivery problem amid Covid-19 pandemic

New Delhi/IBNS:  Techstars Bangalore Class of 2020 start up ODWEN brought in a much-needed technology solution to create an integrated warehousing platform amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

The warehouse industry uses ~350 Mn square feet of space, of which 90% is found with independent owners, which mid-size enterprises work with. But, the requirements of minimum renting period, agreements, deposits etc add to the challenge of supply chain and logistics.

Client companies can choose their rental period and pay or change as they go along. A number of additional services including surveillance, office space, transport, unloading and loading etc can also be selected.

Value added services even include insurance and Finally, clients can use the warehouse management system on the platform to track and manage inventory and movement.

Now, in the pandemic scenario, ODWEN is working towards creating a new warehouse format, ‘micro-warehousing’ which helps companies to stock inventory in multiple locations within the city all the way to the last mile.

“We hit upon this format when we’re were talking to a pharma company whose inventory became stuck in a warehouse that was in a red zone,” said Vijay Anand, CEO and one of the founders of ODWEN.

“The inventory could not be moved so we devised the idea of micro warehousing with two major benefits to the company: faster delivery to customers and increased order flow so that deliveries can be made in as short a time as six hours," he added.

To support customers in navigating through the coronavirus health crisis, ODWEN has, of course, implemented physical distancing and also put in place “contactless” warehouse workflow to keep customer operations functioning, while maintaining an error-free and efficient process.

Every step and area is maintained staying contactless.
