Mumbai/UNI: The Rupee on Friday gained further by 9 paise to 71.19 on brisk selling of US Dollars by bankers and exporters, dealers at the Forex Market said.

In the opening session, the local unit rose by 3 paise to 71.25.

Till the end of the day it spurted by 9 paise to end high at 71.19 as compared to its previous close.

The Indian currency edged up because of weak dollar against other world currencies. However, weak stock market restricted from further rise, the dealers added.

The domestic unit registered day high and low at 71.43 and 71.29 respectively.
