Indian Market: Sensex rallied over 400 pts

Mumbai/UNI: The BSE Sensex on Monday spurted by 440 pts to 40,423.77 in early trade following gains in Materials, Energy, FMCG and Utilities stocks amid positive global peers.

The Nifty of National Stock Exchange too rose by 123.65 pts to 11,886.10.

The Sensex registered intra days high and low at 40,458.14 and 40,211.22 pts respectively.

The Nifty registered intra days high and low at 11,886.10 and 11,820.80 respectively.

The Mid Cap rose by 0.17 pc and Small Cap by 0.45 pc.

In 30 scrips, 23 advanced while 7 declined.

The gainers were ONGC by 4.02 pc to Rs 69.60, ICICI Bank by 3.73 pc to Rs 410.70, Axis Bank by 3.60 pc to Rs 489.25, HDFC by 2.70 pc to Rs 2013 and Indusind Bank by 2.78 pc to Rs 624.95.

The losers were TCS by 1.34 pc to Rs 2725.45, Titan by 0.58 pc to Rs 1216, Tata Steel by 0.34 pc to Rs 392.50 and Bharti Airtel by 0.32 pc to Rs 400.25.
