Budget disappointing, says Chhattisgarh CM

Raipur, July 5 (UNI): Describing the union budget as disappointing, Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel said that it would lead to a rise in inflation.

No concrete step has been taken in the budget to solve most serious problems like unemployment in the country, he said while talking to the reporters here on Friday giving his reaction over budget.

Baghel said that the middle class was not given any relief in income tax. No concrete measure has been taken to double the income of the farmers, he said, maintaining that Railways are being brought under the purview of PPP Scheme.

According to Baghel, railways is the world's largest institute and is the biggest employer, but with the introduction of a new system in railways, many people are being deprived of employment.

Criticising the decision to hike petrol and diesel prices he said that budget did not include any special plan for Naxal-infested districts of Chhattisgarh. While 10 districts in Chhattisgarh have been included in the list of aspirational districts, no provision of the fund has been made for their development, he said.

He said that demand for an honorarium of Rs 12,000 in place of Rs 6,000 to forest right leaseholders too had been rejected.

The programme for water supply through taps to cent per cent houses has been included in the budget, Baghel said, adding that central government was earlier giving cent per cent grants for this programme but now the grants have been reduced to 60-40 per cent. He demanded that the centre should give a cent per cent of grants for this programme.
