Bank of Baroda launches new bob इ Pay features. What are they?

| @indiablooms | May 27, 2026, at 05:58 pm

Public lender Bank of Baroda on Wednesday announced the launch of three new features on its UPI payments app, bob इ Pay – Mobile OS-Native biometric authentication for payments, UIDAI-based face authentication for setting/resetting UPI PIN and Internet of Things (IoT)-based payments.

bob इ Pay is a universal UPI app that is open to customers of any bank.

Speaking about the initiative, Shri Sanjay Mudaliar, Executive Director, Bank of Baroda said “Customers today expect digital payments to be seamless, intuitive and secure. With these new capabilities on bob इ Pay, we are simplifying and enhancing the user experience while strengthening security. These innovations reflect our continued focus on delivering future-ready digital banking solutions for our customers.

Mobile OS (Operating System) Native Biometric Authentication for UPI Payments

With the Mobile OS-Native biometric authentication feature, customers can now authorise UPI transactions up to ₹5,000 using fingerprint or face ID registered on their mobile device, enabling faster, seamless and more secure payments on bob इ Pay. This feature enables PIN-free transactions, eliminating the need to remember multiple PINs and making everyday payments quicker and more intuitive. It also strengthens security by ensuring that only the registered device owner can approve transactions through device-level biometric authentication, significantly reducing the risk of fraud or misuse.

Customers will have the flexibility to choose between UPI PIN and biometrics for transaction authorisation. This feature supports both Person-to-Person (P2P) and Person-to-Merchant (P2M) transactions, as well as balance enquiries, delivering a frictionless user experience.

UIDAI-based face authentication for setting/resetting UPI PIN

The Bank has also introduced Aadhaar-based face authentication to set or reset UPI PINs, reducing reliance on debit cards and OTP-based Aadhaar verification. The UIDAI Face Authentication feature allows users to verify their identity through facial recognition and securely set or reset their UPI PIN using Bank OTP.

Internet of Things (IoT)-based UPI payments

Bank of Baroda has also enabled UPI payments through IoT devices on the bob इ Pay UPI Payments app), expanding the scope of digital payments beyond smartphones. Customers can now link supported connected vehicles and smart appliances to bob इ Pay and conveniently make UPI payments directly through them.

IoT-based payments are an extension of the Delegate Payments framework and allow a primary user to delegate payment authority to a secondary user or device to execute transactions within pre-defined limits set by the primary user. Each IoT device can be linked to only one primary user at a time, ensuring exclusive ownership, transaction accountability and enhanced security.

With these additions, bob इ Pay further reinforces Bank of Baroda’s commitment to driving innovation in digital payments while enhancing customer convenience and security.
