Around 7.5 lakh subscribers joined EPF in January

New Delhi/UNI: As many as 7,50,441 new Employees’ joined Provident Fund subscribers in January this year, according to data released by the government on Wednesday.

The number of exited members who rejoined and resubscribed during the month were 6,26,904.

During the duration September 2017 to January 2020, as may as 3,20,98,535 new subscribers joined the EPF scheme, said National Statistical Office under the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation.

During the duration; a total 3,62,69,750 new subscribers joined the Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) Scheme.

Number of newly registered employees and paying contribution for the scheme in January were 12,06,577.

As many as 60,241, new subscribers including central and state governments and the non-government sector joined the National Pension Scheme (NPS) in January.

During September 2017 and January 2020, total 17,89,111 new subscribers joined the NPS.

Since April 2018, the Ministry has been bringing out the employment related statistics in the formal sector covering the period September 2017 onwards, using information on the number of subscribers who have subscribed under three major schemes, namely the EPF Scheme, the ESI Scheme and the NPS.
