Uttar Pradesh: Girl dies, 3 injured as cylinder explodes in Bahraich

Bahraich: A teenager died and three others were injured while three houses were destroyed when a cylinder exploded while cooking food in Motipur area of Bahraich district in Uttar Pradesh on Monday.

Police sources said the incident took place in Jhala village panchayat when Nisha (16) was cooking food.

"During this, the gas cylinder exploded killing Nisha on the spot. The intensity of the explosion was such that three houses, including that of Shabbir, Shafiq and Jalil were completely destroyed and turned into debris," the sources said.

The sources also said two daughters of Shafiq were injured in the incident. "Leg of a boy has been recovered from the spot and it is being suspected that he is buried under the debris. The police have reached the spot and a rescue and relief operation has been launched.

An excavator has been called on the spot to remove debris," they said.

The sources said the injured have been admitted to a hospital. Inspector in-charge Mukesh Kumar Singh said the incident took place due to an explosion in a gas cylinder and the matter is being investigated.
