Mumbai/IBNS: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's plan to renovate his residence Mannat has faced trouble as a social activist has accused the 59-year-old actor of violating rules in the past, media reports said.

Santosh Daundkar has approached the National Green Tribunal (NGT) accusing the actor of violating rules in the past.

Shah Rukh had to obtain the clearance from Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) as it is located in the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ).

The NGT has reportedly asked Daundkar to submit evidence of violation of rules by either Shah Rukh or MCZMA in securing the permission of CRZ.

Shah Rukh, one of the richest actors in the world, has already rented lavish duplex apartments in Pali Hill, Mumbai as the actor and his family are moving out of the Mannat bungalow which will be renovated and expanded.

The new duplex apartment is rented at Rs. 8.67 crore for three years.

Daundkar has questioned the CRZ clearance to the actor for adding two more floors to the existing six-storey bungalow, which is located at Bandstand, Bandra.

The activist has accused the actor of demolishing two "heritage structures" earlier without the environmental clearance from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

He further accused Shah Rukh of constructing Ground + six storied building without the permission from MCZMA.

Daundkar said a fresh clearance could not have been granted to the actor without rectification of the previous violations.

The next hearing will be held on April 23.
