Om Birla to lead Indian parliamentary delegation to Kenya, Tanzania

New Delhi: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will lead a delegation of Indian Parliament to Kenya and Tanzania from January 16 to 21, a statement said on Friday

The Indian delgation would visit the African nations on the invitation of the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Kenya and the Speaker of the National Assembly of the United Republic of Tanzania, the statement said.

The delegation includes Chirag Paswan, Manoj Kishorbhai Kotak and S Phangnon Konyak, all Members of Parliament and Utpal Kumar Singh, Secretary General, Lok Sabha.

Joint Secretary Ajay Kumar is the Secretary to the delegation, the release said .

During the visit to Kenya, apart from meeting their host, the delegation will also call on William Somoei Ruto, President of Kenya; Rigathi Gachagua, Deputy President ; and Amason Jeffah Kingi, Speaker of the Senate of the Republic of Kenya, it said.

During the visit to Tanzania, apart from meeting their host, the delegation will also call on Philip Mpango, Vice President of Tanzania, the release said.

The delegation will also visit places of cultural and historical importance, it added.
