Kolkata man arrested for raping 21-year-old woman from Delhi on pretext of job opportunity

Kolkata/IBNS: A resident of Elgin Road in Kolkata's Bhowanipore area was on Sunday arrested for allegedly raping a 21-year-old woman from Delhi on pretext of offering better job opportunity, media reports said.

Kirti Kumar Mehta, 59, allegedly raped the woman at a city hotel on Friday evening.

The Elgin resident had reportedly threatened the woman, who works at a pub and came from Delhi looking for better job opportunities, and forced himself on her.

The incident happened at around 8 pm.

As per Kolkata Police, Mehta met the victim at her workplace where he had often visited.

The victim had filed her complaint with the Bhowanipore Police Station.
