Chennai/UNI: The Independent Enquiry Committee set up by the Management of Kalakshetra Foundation to probe sexual harassment charges, today announced that it has set up a secure online portal to enable students to register their complaints of sexual harassment.

Retd Justice K.Kanna, who heads the Committee, said any student of Kalakshetra, past or present, may click on the portal link and register any incident of sexual harassment at or around the campus during his or her stay.

The portal assures that all the mails, messages, images, video clippings and documents shall be kept confidential by the three members of the Committee and they will not be shared with anyone connected with the management of Kalakshetra, except to the extent of confronting matters relating to any particular person against whom statements are made.

The names of the complainants and witnesses shall also not be shared with any persons connected with the management of Kalakshetra. They are private and shall not be made public by the Committee.

Any person who does not have any unique identification to enter the portal, may lodge their complaints or statements in physical formats by communication to the office of Justice Kannan at his residential address in the city, which was also furnished.

The Committee has decided to conduct a personal inspection on April 25 and obtain copies of all records available, including WhatsApp chat records, SMS, CCTV footage, emails, etc., as are assured by the Kalakshetra Chairman’s Terms of Reference to be shared with the Committee.

The Committee will submit a preliminary report soon after the personal inspection that will contain interim measures to maintain utmost safety and orderliness at the Institution and will file a Final Detailed Report within 2-3 months thereafter, as required in the terms of reference.

Mr Kannan said the statement was issued on behalf of the Committee composed of himself, former DGP Ms Letika Saran and Dr.Shobha Varthaman.
