The Indian government has sent Humanitarian Assistance to the people of Cuba after the country was ravaged by devastating Hurricane Rafael.

In an X post, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal wrote: "Vishwabandhu Bharat: sends Humanitarian Assistance for the people of Cuba."

He further said: "In the aftermath of Hurricane Rafael, a consignment in the form of Essential Medicines comprising Antibiotics, Anti-pyretics, Pain Killers, ORS, Muscle Relaxants has departed for Cuba today."

As a Category 3 storm, the hurricane hit the western Cuban province of Artemisa on November 6.

The country's power grid was badly hit by the hurricane.

The nation's electric system collapsed as a result of it, triggering a nationwide blackout.
