India and Pakistan are safer countries than the United States, says survey

India and its neighbouring country Pakistan are safer than the United States as per the list of world's dangerous nations made by Serbian website Numbeo, media reports said.

The US ranked 89th falling behind India (66) and Pakistan (65).

Numbeo rated 146 countries on the basis of the overall level of crime as per the survey conducted by the visitors on their website.

Andorra, a small landlocked European country, has been rated as the safest in the survey conducted by the crowd-sourced online database of cost of living, real property prices and quality of life statistics. 

Located between Spain and France, Andorra has scored a remarkable 84.7.

The country is followed by UAE (84.5) and Qatar (84.2) in the list of the safest nations.

The top three most dangerous countries are found out to be Venezuela (19.3) Papua New Guinea (19.7) and Haiti (21.1).

The US found a spot in the 89th position with 50.8 while the UK slightly better with 51.7.

The responders have rated "mugging, robbery, car theft, physical attacks by strangers, harassment in public places, and discrimination based on factors like skin color, ethnicity, gender or religion".

Violent crimes like assault, homicide, sexual offenses have also been taken into consideration.

Property related crimes like burglary, theft, vandalism have also been accounted for.
