Mumbai/IBNS: In a shocking revelation, the 19 sets of fingerprints collected from actor Saif Ali Khan's residence after the attempted burglary and the stabbing attack on him do not match with that of the accused Shariful Islam.

According to reports, the Mumbai Police sent the fingerprints found at Saif's home to the fingerprint bureau of the state Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

A system-generated report has revealed that the fingerprints do not match Shariful's.

According to reports, the CID has informed the Mumbai Police that the test result is negative. The police have sent more samples for further testing.

Saif was stabbed in five places including his back, wrist, neck, shoulder, and elbow, and was taken to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai in an autorickshaw by his friend Afsar Zaidi, the actor's medical report stated.

The actor received a wound close to the spinal cord. Doctors had to perform surgery on him to remove the knife which was 2.5 inches deep into the wound.

The attack on the house of a top-level celebrity has left the Mumbai Police red-faced.

Maharashtra deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde said the accused won't be spared.

The accused, Shariful, is a Bangladeshi national who entered India illegally.

As per reports, arrested attacker Mohammad Shariful Islam revealed that he wanted to steal money from someone rich and travel to his own country to treat his ailing mother.

The attacker had booked a train ticket from Mumbai to Howrah Station in Kolkata from where he had planned to travel to Bangladesh.

He has told police that someone had promised to get fake citizenship documents made for him in exchange for money.
