Demonetisation, GST ruined India's economy: Rahul Gandhi

Nanded/UNI: Senior Congress leader and MP Rahul Gandhi Tuesday criticized both the decisions including demonetisation and GST taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said they have ruined India's economy.

Gandhi was addressing a gathering on the second day of the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Maharashtra that ended with a corner meeting at Bhopal village.

He said that on this day, 6 years ago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi came on TV at 8 pm and cancelled Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 notes.

"GST was implemented in the wrong way, it caused a big blow to the small and small enterprises of the country," said Gandhi.

The Congress leader further said that the medium and small-scale industries, which are the backbone of the country's economy, suffered huge losses, lakhs of industries were closed, and lakhs of jobs were lost.

"The whimsical decision of demonetisation also caused damage. Both decisions caused huge losses to the country and benefited only two or three industrialists," he said.

"Farmers' loans are not waived, but big industrialists' loans worth lakhs of crores are waived. Public sector enterprises are being sold to capitalists resulting in poor employment of the youth," he said.

Further accusing the Centre, Gandhi said that "the work of spreading hatred in the country is being done by BJP and RSS."

He said that these people cannot be patriots of our country if they think like that.
