New Delhi/IBNS: The probe agency "can put me in jail but can't break my spirit,' said former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who was arrested in the Delhi liquor policy case, on Saturday.

Sisodia tweeted in Hindi, "Sir, you can trouble me by putting me in jail. But can't break my spirits, The British also gave trouble to the freedom fighters, But his spirits did not break. - Manish Sisodia's message from jail."

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) number two man Manish Sisodia, who was arrested in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case, was on Friday remanded to a 7-day Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody by a special court.

The court adjourned the hearing on Sisodia's bail application till March 21.

The ED alleged before the court that Sidodia is not cooperating in the investigation.

The probe agency's counsel submitted that there is a conspiracy in the framing of the Delhi excise policy to provide illegal benefits to certain people and sought a ten-day ED remand for Sisodia.

According to the counsel, the remand was needed to get details of alleged money laundering during the framing of the new liquor policy for Delhi that resulted in extraordinary profits for wholesalers.

Counsel for Sidodia opposed the plea of ED by submitting before the court not a single penny has been traced from Sisodia in this matter.

In his submission, he said that it was the executive's job to lay down policy and a policy goes through several layers of bureaucracy and then goes to the Lieutenant Governor.

On Feb 26, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Sisodia after questioning him on various aspects of the excise policy for 2021-22.

According to the federal investigation agency, the excise policy suffered from irregularities in its formulation and implementation.
