New Delhi/IBNS: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who took oath earlier this week, called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national capital on Saturday.

Rekha took to X to share a couple of pictures from her visit to PM's residence.

She wrote in the microblogging site, "Today I paid a courtesy visit to the successful Prime Minister Honourable @narendramodi ji at the Prime Minister's residence.

"Under your guidance and leadership, the double engine government of BJP is committed to transforming the dreams of Delhiites into a developed Delhi by following the path of public welfare and good governance."

Gupta and five other ministers were administered oath by Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena in front of a sea of supporters at the Ramlila Maidan in the city on Thursday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and several top BJP leaders, leaders of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) allies were present at the oath-taking ceremony.

Gupta, who won from Shalimar Bagh defeating three-time Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Bandana Kumari in the February 5 elections, became the fourth woman CM of Delhi.

Former External Affairs Minister and BJP stalwart Sushma Swaraj, Congress giant leader Sheila Dikshit and AAP's Atishi had remained the women CMs of the city in the past.

Gupta succeeded Atishi, who took charge of the top post last year replacing AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal, who stepped down in the backdrop of his alleged involvement in the liquor scam case.

The BJP, which is spearheaded by Prime Minister Modi, returned to power in Delhi after 27 years ousting the AAP.

The BJP won 48 out of 70 seats as opposed to AAP's 22.
