Centre must prioritise the restoration of 'peace' in Manipur: Priyanka Gandhi

New Delhi: Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday said the BJP-led government at the Centre must prioritise the restoration of 'peace' in Manipur.

"The Union Government must prioritise the restoration of peace and the safety of all. My heart goes out to all those affected and caught in the grip of violence," Vadra wrote in a tweet, referring to the recent violence in the North Eastern state.

The statement of the Congress leader comes a day after Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh met Union Home Minister Amit Shah here on Sunday and apprised him about the situation in the state.

Earlier, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge blamed the BJP-led government in Manipur over violence in Manipur.

The Congress party had also demanded President's Rule in the state.
