Prayagraj (UP): The Uttar Pradesh Police on Monday said that it has found bloodstains inside the partially razed office of gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed.

"I have examined myself, bloodstains, the knife was found near the staircase and next to the kitchen of Atiq's office," Satyendra Prasad Tiwari, Prayagraj Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP), was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

Further, the Uttar Pradesh government has formed a two-person judicial commission on Sunday to investigate the death of Asad, the son of gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed, who was killed in a police encounter on April 13 in UP’s Jhansi.

Retired High Court judge Rajeev Lochan Mehrotra and retired DG Vijay Kumar Gupta will head the committee formed by the Uttar Pradesh government to probe the killing of Atiq Ahmed's son Asad in an encounter.

Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were killed on April 15 by attackers disguised as journalists while they were being taken for a medical examination in Prayagraj. The attackers shot them at close range and both brothers died on the spot.

Atiq Ahmed was accused in the 2005 Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLA Raju Pal murder case and also in the murder case of Umesh Pal which happened in February this year.
