Akshay Kumar, Sachin Tendulkar among early voters in Maharashtra assembly elections

Mumbai/IBNS: Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar are among the early voters in the Maharashtra assembly elections 2024.

Flashing his inked finger, Akshay said, "The arrangements have been good, especially for seniors. Cleanliness has been maintained. I want everyone to cast their votes."

Tendulkar, who is also the Election Commission of India (ECI) national icon, cast his vote with his wife Anjali Tendulkar and daughter Sara Tendulkar.

Casting his vote, Tendulkar said, "I am requesting all to come and vote. It's our responsibility."

Among others who cast their votes early were Suniel Shetty, Rajkummar Rao, Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar in Maharashtra, which is known for low voter turnouts.

More than 9.7 crore voters are expected to exercise their franchise to elect 288 members of the highly contested Maharashtra Assembly on Wednesday.

Voters will decide the fates of 4136 candidates in 1,00,427polling stations in the politically crucial state.

The incumbent Mahayuti comprising BJP, Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) and NCP (Ajit Pawar) are facing a tough challenge from the opposition camp formed by the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray), NCP (Sharad Pawar) and Congress.
