US Secretary condemns ISIL murder of Japanese Hostage

Washington, Jan 25 (IBNS): US Secretary of State John Kerry has condemned the murder of Japanese hostage Haruna Yukawa by militant group Islamic State (IS).
"The United States strongly condemns ISIL’s despicable murder of an innocent Japanese citizen, Haruna Yukawa. America has known this pain and horror ourselves, and we stand with Japan not just in sadness, but in solidarity and strength. We grieve with Haruna Yukawa's family and loved ones, and with all the people of Japan," Kerry said in a statement.

He also joined Japan to ask for the release of another hostage Kenji Goto.

"We join Japan in calling on Kenji Goto's captors to immediately release him, as we continue to call for the release of all other hostages. The United States will continue to support and coordinate closely with Japan as we stand together in confronting terrorism and extremism," said he.

A new video has emerged which claimed that militant group Islamic State (IS) have killed Japanese hostage Haruna Yukawa, media reports said Saturday.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe had on Tuesday vowed to save the two Japanese hostages after the Islamic State group threatened to kill them.

A video purportedly from the Islamic State, a man, who is claiming to be a member of militant group, is seen threatening to kill two Japanese captives unless a ransom of $200 million is paid, reports said.

The man, who is wearing a black outfit, is seen standing in between the two Japanese nationals kneeling on the ground.
